The Hull Identification Quantity (HIN) is usually a 12- or 14-character serial amount that uniquely identifies a boat. The HIN is analogous to your VIN on a car.

The primary three digits would be the Producer’s Identification Code (ex. Boat brand name for instance Sea Ray, Meridian, etc.). The four digits following that are the manufacturer’s serial quantity for your boat. The 3rd and 4th digits from your stop are classified as the date of manufacture. The letter about the date from the manufacture corresponds for the month of the year, i.e. A = January, B = February, C = March and so on. The final two digits in the HIN amount signify the model calendar year.
